About FCLO

FCLO Music Theatre

The award winning Fullerton Civic Light Opera (FCLO) was incorporated in December of 1971, as a 501 C(3) non-profit corporation. Beginning as a community theater using local talent, it changed its status into a professional theater in 1986, and is now one of the 100 largest resident professional theaters in the United States. Celebrating 38 years in business FCLO has produced more than 150 stage musicals.

FCLO's mission is to present live stage musicals for the enjoyment and cultural enrichment of the general public at affordable prices.

A key focus of our mission is to educate our youth in this distinctly American art form, and create a lasting interest and appreciation for it. In addition, we provide access to this art form for under priviledged youth and adults.

The company’s founders, Jan and Griff Duncan, have been the company’s business and artistic managers throughout its existence, providing stable management and consistent production value.

Professional staff such as directors, choreographers, musicians, and designers are hired for each production depending on the particular experience/expertise required for that production. This staff includes world class professionals with Broadway and international credits. It is the philosophy of FCLO to use different artistic staffing not only for their particular expertise but also to provide different styles for audiences to see and for the education of our youth.

Our artistic vision is to provide live stage musicals at the highest level of professional excellence, gaining national prominence. In addition, we provide a vehicle for talented youth to work with seasoned professionals, raising their skill level and creating opportunities for work on the professional stage.

Our 2004-2005 season production of Miss Saigon was nominated for 12 Ovation Awards!

The company has manufactured theatrical scenery and costumes for use in its own shows and  offers them for rent to high schools, colleges, community and professional theatres. It currently maintains 31 complete sets for the Broadway musical, plus over 250 scenic backdrops and a multitude of stage props. It owns thousands of costumes, within which has complete costume sets of  25 Broadway musicals. The company is now the second largest supplier of scenery and costumes for Broadway musicals in the United States.
